Hever Castle, Kent

With an impressive history spanning all the way back to 1270, Hever Castle has become a staple part of British Heritage.

Anne Boleyn, one of King Henry VIII’s six wives, spent her early youth growing up in the castle, which is located in Kent. Hever Castle even came into the possession of the King in 1539, who bestowed it upon his next wife, Anne of Cleves, as part of a settlement following the annulment of their marriage in 1540.

When contacted with a proposal to fit giant parasols to this prestigious location, the team at Indigo were delighted to assist with its renovation. The parasols were to be installed outside a restaurant under refurbishment.

On Friday 6th May 2016, two 7m x 7m A8 giant parasols with heaters were installed in ground sleeves outside this picturesque restaurant, framing the castle and creating a luxury alfresco dining area for visitors to make a pit-stop while enjoying a stroll around the grounds.

The parasols were joined with linking gutters, creating uninterrupted protection from the elements. The ivory colour of the canopies enhance the area’s elegance; by complementing the surrounding greens and pinks of the hedges and cherry blossom trees, the location’s luxury is heightened, adding further grandeur to this historic location.

Striking and elegant, the parasols stand boldly in the midst of their imperial surroundings, attracting the gaze of passers-by and increasing footfall to the restaurant.

The installation went smoothly and successfully, with the customer expressing their utter delight at the dramatic area transformation.

With a background dripping with Tudor history, Hever Castle is nothing short of an iconic landmark in British past.

In the 21st Century, Hever Castle has become a tourist hotspot, attracting people from all walks of life to wander through the award-winning gardens, mazes and lakes.
