Installing Awnings at Metrocola Bar in Liverpool

After the purchase of three large parasols for The Old Schoolhouse, Lark Lane in late 2021, the same management team came to us to revamp the exterior of their latest venture.

They had recently started a refurbishment of the old Hannah’s Bar in Liverpool with the new name Metrocola and wanted to enhance the outdoor aesthetic whilst simultaneously providing shelter for their queueing guests.

After a site visit, our design consultant recommended 3 different sized awnings to shelter 2 entrances and signage. Once our client was happy with this initial quote, we carried out a site survey to finalise any technical solutions. On this specific job, it was discussed that the first and second awning would be positioned at the same height, but that the first awning needed 6 spreader plates to ensure maximum safety and life span. The third awning was to be positioned lower to avoid the need for extra spreader plates, keeping the cost down.

The order for 3 x awnings all with cover boards for extra protection and remote control wind sensors. These wind sensors retract the awning automatically when the awning ‘bounce’ exceeds a pre-set limit. The frames were powder coated to RAL 7016 and the valances had a straight design for a neat finish.

The awning fabric was a bright orange which creates such a contrasting visual impact against the white render, perfect to attract the eyes of passers-by! We love a pop of colour! The before and after images below show what a difference the addition of awnings can make to a building.
