Indigo Shading Ltd have this month (September) been awarded the exciting opportunity to supply outdoor shading products to Leeds University.
The University recently put out a tender for large parasols to provide shelter and shade for 3 separate sites across the campus of this historic institution.
The project proposal specified the need for 10 5mx5m permanent parasols, with branded valances, resistant in storm force conditions with heat reflective, UV treated canopies.

Leeds University Parasol instillation sites
The first instillation is at the heart of the campus where 3 parasols are required to cover a seating area outside the Roger Stevens Building. Containing 25 tiered lecture theatres offering a range of rooms for 79 – 308 delegates, this building sees large amounts of people through its doors.
The second location is a raised area to the opposite side of the Roger Stevens Building where 4 parasols are required to create a sheltered seating space over-looking The Cooling Pond, the focus of ongoing biodiversity research and an innovative space for interdisciplinary, research-led teaching.
The third site is for 3 parasols to cover picnic benches and an existing tiered seating area outside the Student Union.
The Indigo A4 Extreme Parasol
Indigo proposed their A4 Extreme parasols which offer unrivalled strength whilst maintaining sophistication and elegance. With an exceptionally strong mast, reinforced arms, and extremely stable hinge points, these parasols are virtually indestructible. Indigo suggested the addition of connecting guttering systems to allow rainwater to drain off in the desired direction.
Located close to Leeds City Centre, the university has over 23,000 students and also serves the local community in a number of ways by allowing access to facilities and hosting cultural and educational festivals.
The university obtained quotes from different suppliers before selecting Indigo Shading Ltd to complete the project.
